At Kaduna Books and Arts Festival 2024, we will be screening fascinating films:

The Passport of Mallam Ilia

In 19th Century Kano, a brave young man, Ilia, wins the hand of Zarah, the daughter of the Prince of the Tuaregs, Kanemi, in a blood sport known as Sanchi. They marry and retire to a peaceful life outside of the Kano walls. However, the villain he defeated in Sanchi, Usuman, a remarkably violent and influential man, with a questionable background, is determined to not let Ilia and Zarah have peace. He orchestrated the death of Zarah and flees. Overcome with a deep-seated sense of revenge, Ilia hunts Usuman, determined to make him pay for the death of his wife.

The Passport of Mallam Ilia is a gritty tale of love, adventure, vengeance and redemption.

KNIFAR: The Women Who Spoke Up

After their husbands and sons were detained, these women were forced to start a movement whose potential even they did not know at the time.
